The Bedessee Timeline
Lionel M. Bedessee, of Courantyne Berbice, Guyana, runs a successful importing and distribution business
From his residence in Waterloo, Ontario, Lionel Bedessee operates a small trading business
Incorporated the first small retail store in Toronto, located at 1429-31 Queen Street West
First to import Guyanese and Caribbean style fish such as gilleybaka, gray snapper and buck crabs
In response to business growth and demand, we moved into a larger retail space at 1373 Queen Street
Launches a 3000 sq ft food warehouse along with Canada’s largest cricket outlet at 1447A Queen Street West
Establishes the first USA warehouse in Brooklyn, New York, and acquires an 8000-square-foot facility at 2360 Midland Ave, Scarborough, ON
All retail operations are closed and the company moves to its Scarborough location to design and automate a state of the art chow mein factory and closed-loop noodle dryer
Opening a fish processing facility in Suriname with its own boats through a local business partnership
The company acquires a new warehouse of 4000 square feet and develops 100 new products. Our company has also acquired a 6000 sq. ft. warehouse in Brooklyn, New York
We have consolidated both Ontario locations into a 25,000 sq ft warehouse at 2350 Midland Ave, Scarborough, ON. As well as moving U.S. operations into a 17,000 sq ft warehouse at 140 Varick Ave, Brooklyn, NY. We designed and developed a drive-in cold storage system for both operations.
Installation of bulk storage silos at Ontario operation to increase noodle and chow mein production
The U.S. operation moves to a new 45,000 sq ft warehouse at 601 Wortman Ave and installs an 8,000 sq ft drive-in freezer to meet demand
With an increased demand in Canada, we built a new 47,000 sq ft warehouse and installed a 29,000 cu ft drive in freezer at 2 Golden Gate Ct
